Single family homes have changed a lot in the last 20 years. While it might seem that things haven’t changed in the world much in 20 years, the real estate market in America has changed quite a lot. The most notable change is in the price of homes in America- the average price has ballooned nearly $200,000 from $154,000 in 1994 to $345,000 in 2014. The average home price has more than doubled in 20 years.
Though the price has doubled, the average square footage has remained steady at between 1800 and 2399. However, builders are squeezing more into these spaces. The average number of bedrooms went from 3 to 4 in that period, and the average number of bathrooms went from 2 to 3. Apparently people really don’t want to share any spaces anymore.
