Consistently we take for granted having wifi. Virtually every household, coffee shop, hotel, and airport has at least some form of internet access. So when we find ourselves stranded on the way to Coachella with no wifi and we reluctantly switch on our data to get directions, the reality that not everywhere has internet access really hits home. But thinking big about internet isn’t a new concept, and companies have been looking upwards for answers for years.

Back in the late 1990s, two companies tried (and failed) to launch internet access to the skies. Since then, they have rebranded, but all with the same mission. Now they provide hundreds of thousands of customers with space satellite based phone and internet access.
