When it comes to law enforcement there are certain rights that citizens always have, but unfortunately, many are unaware of. Because of this, police officers have become accustomed to using trick questions and intimidation to make arrests in otherwise avoidable situations.

To put it plainly, you always have the right to refuse a search (if there is no valid warrant present) and to refuse to answer incriminating questions. Refusing to do either of these are not an admission of guilt or reasons for an officer to detain you; they are simply your rights.

Though just because you have rights does not excuse rude behavior. Exercising your rights politely and respectfully is the best way to keep out of trouble. Even if your rights are being violated, do not resist or fight back, just report the incident.

There is a reason we have rights and knowing them could keep you out of prison. Take a look at this infographic for more and don’t forget to comment, like and share.
