Hakkasan Las Vegas opened in April of 2013 at the MGM Grand Hotel. Hakkasan is a modern Cantonese restaurant that offers a unique dining concept. This concept is a vibe that elaborates into a nightclub. Unique of it’s kind, this is the only restaurant/nightclub that is complete with #EDM DJ’s. Hashtag EDM I’ll get back to that in a second. Hakkasan has ten locations on several continents;a select few are scheduled to open later this year. Vegas is the only one with the club experience. London is the parent restaurant and has received the prestigious Michelin Star of dining. The head Chef is Ho Chee Boon. In order to keep the tradition of the original Hakkasan and keep intact all future restaurants, specifically Las Vegas, Chef Boon flew his understudies from China as well as his specified cooking equipment. In addition, he delayed the opening by thirty days to make sure that all his woks in the kitchen were properly broken in for the maximum cooking taste.
Here are the facts about this establishment: located at 3799 Las Vegas Blvd in the MGM Grand Hotel replacing the original club Studio 54, Hakkasan is 80,000 sq feet, five levels, LED screens, an Asian inspired garden complete with waterfall, decent size VIP booths equipped with every cell phone charger imaginable, drawers to hold the VIP partier’s belongings, an exclusive mezzanine area equipped with its own DJ which they spin Top 40 and or hip-hop. The construction and decorations alone cost $1 million. Hakkasan’s decor is exquisite with an Asian influence, complete with sleek lines of sophisticated style.
The significance about Hakkasan is that NO other venue exists like this on the Las Vegas strip. The backstory on why Hakkasan truly exists came about as a revenge story. As legend has it, a wealthy businessman from the middle east two years ago visited the hottest club on the strip (at that time) and he got denied access to the table he wanted. So basically he sought out to teach them a lesson and built his own nightclub and wanted to take all their DJ’s. Low and behold to what is now Hakkasan Las Vegas. This gentleman is an investor of the Hakkasan establishments via from the middle east. His idea of expanding the Hakkasan experience of fine dining which oozes into a nightclub is the only of it’s kind, and throughout the other Hakkasan locales.
As for hashtag EDM. Now for those of us who have been fans of electronica music before EDM became #EDM. We know that yes, Tiesto has been ranked the number one DJ in the world for years on the world charts. It’s only fitting Tiesto is at Hakkasan in Las Vegas. The significant part about Hakkasan, is that they paid $70 million on their entertainment. Hakkasan has only been open since April of this year. The impressive DJ lineup includes: Tiesto, Calvin Harris, Deadmau5, Steve Aoki, Danny Avila, Bambi, Bingo Players, Dada Life, Fergie DJ, Hardwell, Laidback Luke, Nervo, Quintino, R3HAB, Bob Sinclar, Tommy Trash, and Michael Woods. Hakkasan did a stellar job of having the best talent take up residence. The club has what they call “model servers” who cater to the VIP guests in which they change outfits throughout the night. When DJ Steve Aoki performs they have a specific outfit for him that he designed. Hakkasan Las Vegas is paving the way for a phenomenal concept. I couldn’t think of a better place than Vegas to put the Hakkasan restaurant/nightclub. World class clubbing at it’s finest. Tiesto, Harris, Aoki and dim sum under one roof: a must see.
