How did Rihanna develop into the beautiful star she is today? Born on February 20, 1988 in St. Michael, Barbados, Rihanna was a shy child who found an outlet through singing and performing in front of her friends. She won beauty pageants and sang in her school’s talent show. In 2003, Rihanna met with famous producer Evan Rogers and her life would change forever. Rogers, who had worked with the likes of ‘Nsync, Christina Aguilera, and Kelly Clarkson, instantly liked Rihanna.

Rihanna joined Rogers and his Barbadian wife in America to live with them and record her first demos, including her first single, “Pon de Replay.” The single was released in August 2005, and it hit No. 2 on the Billboard singles chart. Her first album, Music of the Sun, was released later that month. In 2008, Barbados officially named February 21 as “Rihanna Day.” What has the superstar been up to lately? In January 2013, Rihanna launched her fashion line at London Fashion Week.
