I just got done watching the ESPN 30 for 30 special on Coach Valvano and the incredible run of the 1983 NC State men’s basketball team, and how they beat the tournament favorite University of Houston Phi Slamma Jamma squad consisting of Clyde Drexler and Hakeem Olajuwon for the NCAA national championship.

To say that was an emotionally moving experience would be the biggest understatement of the day for me.

Incredible story – many ups, many downs, an unfortunate legal bout, and a tragic loss due to cancer.

Above is Coach Valvano’s speech he gave at the 1st ESPY Awards when he was awarded the inaugural Arthur Ashe Courage and Humanitarian Award.

Watch it! And as Coach V said,…

Don’t Give Up…Don’t Ever Give Up!
