Even in today’s modern age, the idea of the coupon reigns supreme. Of course, these days bargain hunting has little to do with the physical process of clipping said coupons and more to do with harnessing the power of the Internet in order to find the best deals around. Indeed, there are many websites that are geared to do just that, and with the rise of the smartphone and mobile commerce, there are plenty of coupon-based mobile apps on the market.

Apple may still have more options when it comes to mobile applications for its platform, but Android is catching up. It even has a healthy number of deal and coupon apps that should sate the hunger of any hardcore shopping junky. Here are just a few of those options.

Coupon Cloud

Despite the snazzy name, this option doesn’t offer anything having to do with cloud computing. But despite the fact this app doesn’t offer live streaming of huge shopping discounts, it does offer great discounts the old fashioned way: by aggregating the best of online deals on a daily basis. Users of this app are presented with daily offers on their favorite brands and items and provides a sleek and easy-to-use, quick-loading interface in which to do so.

One added aesthetic benefit to this app is that it doesn’t feature any banner ads.

GeoQpon

Those on the location-based mobile bandwagon will find this app plenty useful. With GeoQpon, all users need to do in order to find nearby bargains is to click the “local” tab on the app’s easy-to-use main menu screen and the app presents the users with tons of local deals and bargains. These include everything from discounts at restaurants to savings on top brands at local clothing stores. The app even comes with a barcode scanner that can be used for quick price checks and comparisons.

Grocery Smarts

Visually speaking, this app may not have much going for it. But many times substance trumps style, and that is certainly the case with Grocery Smarts. Those users who can overlook the antiquated, black-and-white menu screen will find that this mobile app offers some serious food deals. That’s because it aggregates all deals and discounts (including those that don’t even require a coupon) and presents them in a list to the user with the best deals first. Users can even create lists using featured items and get projected cost totals for their upcoming trip to the market.

The Coupons App

So this app may not have the most creative title, but what its name lacks in flare, it makes up for in accurate description. This is a coupon app that serves no other purpose than to provide users with shopping deals and coupon savings at a variety of stores, restaurants and even gas stations. The prominent coupon widget in the menu screen provides popular daily deals with the tap of a button. The app also comes with a barcode scanner as well as the ability for users to text-share deals and coupons.

RedLaser

This app functions first and foremost as a barcode scanner, which is good for those shoppers who kick themselves for buying a certain product only to see it advertised elsewhere for less cash. Users scan the barcode of the item in question and this app then presents a list of prices for the same product from a wide array of online as well as brick-and-mortar establishments.

These may only be a few of the coupon and deal apps currently on the market. But by having even one or two of the above options installed, Android users may never need another discount app again.
