Africa has always been considered one of the most fantastic destinations in the world. When planning an incredible vacation journey, African safari must be viewed as an option. The price, quality and accommodations will very upon the budget and the amount of time allowed for traveling. The adventurous type of visitors will find Africa enticing and mystical. Many guided tours are available at reasonable cost and can be enjoyed by entire families.

Where to start.
The trip can be started with the visit to the elephant orphanage and giraffe sanctuary in South Africa. The native population is very sensitive about their wildlife and takes great pride in raising their baby animals in order to re-introduce them back into the wild. Journey deep into the forest may be the next part of the agenda. The inhabitants are following the eco-friendly way of life and are responsive to travelers who respect their customs. South Africa is the true heart of the wild. The rangers, who are also often the tour guides, are willing to explain the animal behaviors and they present the natural habitats throughout the trip. Great precautions are always taken to ensure the safety of the safari participants.

What to bring.
The climate varies drastically from area to area. Packing lightly will prove to be essential when traveling to South Africa. Comfortable, neutral-colored clothing is imperative. Bright colors may have an adverse reaction on the wildlife and should be avoided. Hiking boots, sun glasses, skin protection and wide-brimmed hats are also highly recommended to protect the visitors from the harsh African sun. As the weather remains unpredictable, dressing in layers is the most practical approach. Insect repellent is recommended as well as great pair of binoculars to be able to observe the animals and expansive views from a distance. First-aid kit is a necessity and it should include basic medications, allergy remedies and pain killers. Power converters and adapters will be crucial if traveling with laptops or international roaming cell phones.

Medical Requirements.
Vaccination requirements should be checked before traveling abroad. African cultures still carry diseases such as malaria, diphtheria, polio and rabies and any traveler should be vaccinated before entering the continent. Precautionary vaccinations may be administered several months before the actual travel will take place. Prescription medication should be taken in ample supplies as it may not be available on site in Africa.

Currency and Language.
The official language is English and it is easy to communicate with the natives in urban areas. However, when experiencing safari trips, the language barrier may become an issue. Most large cities have currency exchange centers where the dollars can be substituted for local money. The value changes daily and travelers must be prepared for fluctuations in currency’s worth. When visiting a South African safari, cultural customs and religious values play a major role in everyday lifestyle. Respecting the local civilization will gain the visitor the entrance into an amazing society.
