Last month we took a look at the Kaijudo trading card game from Wizards of the Coast and this month, I’m happy to report that the Kaijudo universe is growing with the announcement of a new expansion set. The set is called Kaijudo – Evo Fury and is the first expansion set for Kaijudo. The new set will launch on November 13, 2012 and will feature cards such as the following – “Return from Beyond”
This card allows you to take a creature card that is level 4 or lower from your discard pile and place in to the battle zone. This is also a sheild blast card and as you can see on the right side it’s designated as “Rare” (the 3 stars).
The expansion set, with 60 cards in all, features new cards for all 5 civilizations. As with the existing Kaijudo cards, you can buy 9 card booster packs or a Competitive Deck (Tornado Generator) with 40 cards. With the Competitive Deck you also get one super rare and one very rare foil card.
Booster Packs: 9 card booster pack. MSRP is $3.99
Competitive Deck: The Tornado Generator competitive deck- MSRP is $11.99
Here is some additional back-story information that I received from the company –
Kaijudo: Rise of the Duel Masters is a brand from Wizards of the Coast and Hasbro, providing multi-platform entertainment that the whole family will enjoy. Kaijudo features a suite of products including a trading card game (TCG), digital trading card game (TCGO), online battle game and a mobile app.
The Kaijudo storyline centers on a young hero, Ray, who possesses the rare ability to befriend and duel alongside fantastical creatures from a parallel dimension. It’s up to Ray to master the ancient art of Kaijudo in order to protect both worlds. Players will become immersed in a world of fast combat and deep strategy and develop strong, unique bonds with powerful creatures, preparing them to lead into a battle to save humanity from annihilation!
Sounds pretty interesting … Sometimes, knowing this type of information helps make the game more enjoyable. So, what is so special about this new expansion and how does it fit in to the Kaijudo universe?
Evo Fury marks the introduction of an entirely new concept to the TCG game: evolution! Players will be able to boost their already awesome creatures to new heights in battle and show opponents a new way to duel.
So the key here is the evolution piece – I assume many of these expansion cards will enhance or evolve the creatures already found in the previous sets of Kaijudo cards. I look forward to seeing the full set when it’s released.
