Believe it or not, there is more to election day than just going to place your vote. Months of planning are put into place well before the election day. Although poll locations don’t typically change often, there is still the matter of hiring poll workers, making sure voting machines are working properly, and overall making sure the day runs smoothly so everyone can cast their vote in a timely manner.

Did you know that there are approximately 2 million poll workers per federal election? That’s a lot of people, in fact, it’s almost the same amount of people as worldwide Walmart employees. Unfortunately, being a poll worker may not always be the best job. Many of them are underpaid and have to work very long hours.
