There is no doubt about it, social media can be very distracting. Often times we find ourselves spending more time on social media sites than we care to admit, especially during work hours.

In fact, social media is one of the biggest culprits when it comes to distractions at work. According to a study done my Microsoft, there are an average of four social media interruptions an hour and over 40% of disrupted tasks are not immediately resumed.

So even though social media can be a great marketing tool, it can be a double edged sword, because it can drastically affect productivity. In fact, many businesses have banned certain social sites on their network so that employees won’t even be tempted.
