“Practice makes perfect” is a phrase I'm sure most of us have heard since we were children. However, does practice really make perfect? According to the 10,000 hour rule it does, but just as you would think, it takes 10,000 hours of practice to become an expert.

Yes, that seems like a lot of time, but when you think of many succesful people, they have been working on their craft for many years before they really “make it big”. For example, Bill Gates put in well over 10,000 hours before he created Microsoft, and look at him now.

With determination, drive, and free time you can reach your goal of expertise. But just like any other rule, there are ways to cheat it. Getting a coach, surrounding yourself with like-minded individuals, and not wasting time are just a few of the ways you can cheat the 10,000 hour rule and become an expert faster.
