What’s Eating Up Your Data Plan? [Infographic]
If you have a smartphone, which the majority of cell phone users nowadays do have, you have a data plan to go along with that. However, do you know where all that data is being distributed?
As mobility grows, data plans are shrinking. Providers went from unlimited data plans to tiered plans. Enterprise tablet adoption will also grow by almost 50% per year. The number of apps per smartphone are on the rise. In 2011, on average there were 32 apps on each user’s device. However, in 2012, an average of 41 apps were downloaded. The downloading of applications on your smartphone eat up your data plan.
Most data plans go by gigabytes. To use up one gigabyte, you would have to download 150 apps. How much other data usage do you have on your phone? Viewing web pages 5,700 times will use one gigabyte, as well as uploading 3,050 photos to Facebook. Speaking of Facebook, did you know that 1/3 of Facebook’s 600 million users use their mobile site?
So, be conscience of the data usage on your phone, as well as anyone else that is on your phone plan. The overage charges at the end of the month can get pretty hairy.
