Spotify iApp Available Now

As we in the U.S. patiently await today’s expected general availability of Spotify there is extremely promising news to report pointing to the fact that this could indeed happen today. The Spotify iApp has been made available in the U.S. App Store.

According to the general description – you’ll be able to do all the tasks on your iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad that you expect from the Spotify service – that being the ability to stream countless tracks of music to your iDevice.

You’ll have the capability, as well, to activate “offline mode” which gives you the capability to listen to music, even when no connection is available (sounds like you’ll need the Spotify Premium or Unlimited service for that though).

Basic functionality includes:

  • Wireless sync of local files to iDevice
  • Create and sync playlists
  • Receive music from friends in your inbox
  • Scrobble music to
Spotify Premium functionality includes:
  • Access to over 13M tracks in the Spotify catalogue
  • Offline playlists – listen to music with no mobile connection and avoid data fees from your mobile service provider

So there you have it – even before I completed writing this post, the site opened up officially to the U.S. !! The free service still shows invites will be coming out via email, however, to jump the queue you can immediately sign up for either Premium or Unlimited services for as low as $4.99/month.
