Barack Obama has formally announced he will be running again for president in November 2012, officially launching his re-election campaign and urging his original supporters to help to lead him again to victory.
Obama told his supporters by email that he was filing the necessary paperwork with the Federal Election Commission Monday, and directed them to his new campaign website, BarackObama.com.
The website features a two-minute video, titled “It Begins With Us,” which shows supporters from around the country discussing why they still back the president.
The start of Obama's second White House bid comes a full 20 months before the election.
