This week I’d like to point your attention to a great WordPress plugin: upPrev.
Usage
When a reader scrolls to the bottom of a single post, a button animates in the page’s bottom corner, allowing the reader to select the next available post in the single post’s category (the category is also clickable to access an archive page).
The developers (jpelker and gkrzyminski) have just released an updated version of this plugin that now has more customization options; such as selecting if the animation slides in from the left or right, and also the ability to include a thumbnail with the slide out.
This plugin is very cool – I use it on this site and on INFOtainment News – scroll halfway down the page and you’ll see the button fly-in from the right.
The plugin is available in the WordPress Plugin Repository here.
Sweet! I was actually thinking yesterday of emailing you to ask what plugin you're using… I've got a few blogs that could benefit from a slider for related posts. It seems to be a pretty effective method (featuring one truely related post after the visitor has read part of the article) for keeping blog visitors engaged. Thanks for sharing!
Improved version: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/upprev/ much more options. Cotrol margins; custom type posts. Prefix & sufix for ulrs (tracking).
@iworks thanks for your comment. I’ve actually, personally, switched to a plugin from nrelate that does a very similar flyout. So far works great
