An influential blogger – what does that even mean?
Influential to who? What makes someone influential? And beyond that – how do you become someone that’s considered influential?
Those are the questions that immediately came to mind when I saw a tweet come through from Guy Kawasaki talking about his forthcoming book, Enchantment.
Guy talks about using a tool called eCairn Conversation – which performs a two-step process to rank influencers:
- It crawls the web and collects the people who are relevant for a vertical (community), looking at what people are writing about and who they are connected to.
- It computes the influence of each person using the number of inbound links he/she gets from the other people of the community and the influence of the people linking to him/her.
Sounds like a Klout score for the blogger huh? Hence, my interest has been peaked…
Check out the video below to see how eCairn Conversation works.
If you want to try the tool out, people using a special Guy Kawasaki referenced link can get a 15-day trial – click through here. for that access.
I’ve signed up for the trial, under 2 different email addresses, because I want to find the top influencers in the cloud computing and social media communities. When I get my access and can work through the tool I’ll update this post.
You can keep up with eCairn on their website and on Twitter.
And you can pre-order Guy’s new book, Enchantment, from Amazon here.
Anyone using it thus far?
