Macworld 2011 Announces Macworld Industry Forum 1Macworld Industry Forum, an exclusive event that brings together developers, industry-watchers, media, analysts, volume product buyers and other influencers for a day of discussions about the dynamics that shape the third-party Apple-products marketplace, will debut at Macworld 2011.

We here at HicksNewMedia couldn't be happier since – obviously, we'll be representing and liveblogging from the expo floor of Macworld 2011.

Presentations include key industry analysts providing insight into the dynamics that make the Apple market go and noted experts from key market segments sharing how Apple products are being deployed in volume markets where third-party products can add value, as well as how new products and technologies are shaping the industry's future.

Macworld Industry Forum will take place on Wednesday, January 26, 2011, from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. PST, at the Moscone Center West in San Francisco.

Macworld Industry Forum features presentations from noted industry watchers such as: Harry McCracken, founder and editor of Technologizer, offering his “Thoughts on Mobile”; Jason Snell, vice president and editorial director of Mac Publishing, LLC, discussing “How Apple Does ‘It'”; and John Gruber, writer and publisher at Daring Fireball, tackling “Apple and the Open Web: A Love Story.”

“Macworld Industry Forum will be a pinnacle event for the Apple-products industry,” said Paul Kent, vice president and general manager of Macworld 2011. “Bringing together the industry media, influencers and experts who shape this market everyday to share ideas, learn from each other and move the marketplace forward, this caliber of event could only take place at Macworld. We are thrilled to debut the Macworld Industry Forum in 2011 and to share in the excitement, innovation and connections that are sure to result from the best minds coming together in one place.”

In addition, this special event will include a “What You Need to Know” series of 20-minute market presentations from executives offering an overview of some of the technology and key markets that the Apple-product industry serves. Presenters will include:

  • Colin Crawford, CEO and founder of Media7, on “Tablet Publishing Models”
  • John Welch, head of IT at The Zimmerman Agency, on “Apple and the Enterprise”
  • Mike Lawrence, executive director of computer-using educators (CUE), on “Apple Products in Education”
  • Bill Wiecking, MIS at Hawaii Preparatory Academy, on “Sustainable Apple: Thinking About Forever”
  • Bill Atkinson on “The Evolution of Software”
  • Alex Lindsay, CFO of Pixel Corps, on “The Here and Now, There and Tomorrow of Digital Video”
  • Derrick Story, photographer, on “The Technology in the Camera You'll Buy Tomorrow”
  • Nick Floro, CEO of Sealworks Interactive Studios, on “The New Creative Professional: Essential Skills, Tools and Technology”
