Systems Engineer

As a TWiT Systems Engineer, reporting to the VP Engineering, you’ll be part of the team of in-house engineers, remote consultants, and volunteers that maintains TWiT’s 24×7 live video streaming network and publishing systems.

Responsibilities

  • Day-to-day operations and maintenance of TWiT’s production and broadcasting systems
  • Assist with administration of hosted and co-located network infrastructure Troubleshooting and resolution of systems issues
  • Participate in systems design and planning efforts

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience in the management and administration of network infrastructure and mixed networks of Mac, Windows and Linux systems
  • 3+ years experience in a support or help desk environment working with customers or users to diagnose and resolve technical issues
  • Expertise in video formats and network protocols related to video and audio production, storage, and streaming (e.g Flash, h.264, Skype, AAC, SIP, RTP, UDP, TCP/IP, IEEE 1394, HDMI)

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience with the specific hardware and software solutions used in TWiT’s video production and streaming environment (e.g. Skype, NewTek Tricaster, Axia audio systems, Tiger Technology metaSAN)
  • Experience producing and publishing audio and video podcasts
  • B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or Engineering

TWiT is located in Petaluma, CA, approximately an hour north of San Francisco. While some TWiT employees do commute from San Francisco, the ideal candidate for this position would live in the Petaluma/San Rafael/Santa Rosa area in order to ensure rapid response to on-site technical issues at TWiT’s production and broadcast facility.
