iChatr, an iPhone app for iPhone 4 has just been released that brings Chatroulette to the iPhone. It enables iPhone 4 users to video chat with other random iPhone 4 users from around the world.
iChatr makes use of iPhone 4’s front facing camera. Here are some more details about the iPhone app:
- iPhone app works only over Wi-Fi like the FaceTime feature for iPhone 4 users.
- You need headphones to hear the stranger at the other end of the video call (speaker doesn’t work).
- If you get bored video chatting with someone, you can swipe to chat with someone else.
I, personally, never got into the Chatroulette thing and doubt very seriously I'll try this app, but if you feel inclined, the app is available for free and you can download it from the App Store here.
7/18/2010 UPDATE: Well that didn't take long. This bad idea just went completely down hill. It appears that Apple has pulled iChatr from the App Store since many participants apparently exposing themselves during their chat sessions.
A statement from the developers:
“The iChatr application has currently been removed from the App Store due to reports of a number of users exposing themselves during the random video chat sessions.
We are currently discussing possible solutions to the problem with Apple.”
