AppleTV has been the ignored sibling in Apple’s line up for some time, infamously relegated to “a hobby” by Jobs. Now rumors are swirling that the device might get an overhaul in the near future. The NYT is reporting “people familiar” with the platform say there’s a major update in the pipe, which will completely change the interface.
Right now, it’s all hearsay. The interface may be based on iOS, or it might be completely new. There might be a new device associated with the update.
On a slightly more far out note, Piper Jaffray believes the addition of an HDMI port to the Mac Mini means Apple is going to start selling HDTVs within 2 to 4 years. I can’t really say I agree with that.
