With all the noise on the interweb lately about privacy, security and dissatisfaction with Facebook it appears that yesterday's planned “Quit Facebook Day” was a flop !

According to a report in InformationWeek, only 34,388 account holders made a pledge to quit the social network that has more than 540 million users worldwide (that's about 0.00637%).

The movement, was started by technologist Joseph Dee and systems designer Matthew Milan. In a statement, Dee and Milan wrote, “For a lot of people, quitting Facebook revolves around privacy. This is a legitimate concern, but we also think the privacy issue is just the symptom of a larger set of issues. The cumulative effects of what Facebook does now will not play out well in the future, and we care deeply about the future of the Web as an open, safe and human place. We just can't see Facebook's current direction being aligned with any positive future for the Web, so we're leaving.”

How do you feel about this? Where you one of the 34,388 who quite Facebook yesterday? Are you one of the 4,156 fans of the facebookprotest.com site that is scheduled to take effect June 6th?

FYI, the sarcasm has started…hence the video below.
