Use WiFi to sync your iPhone – that's right folks you can do it; it may not be sanctioned “officially” by Apple, but that capability is there.

As you've probably read lately there was an application developed by Greg Hughes, a student at the University of Birmingham that let iPhone users wirelessly sync their iPhones or iPod Touch with iTunes (check here for that background). Unfortunately, Apple put the brakes on that and referenced “security concerns” in their rejection to Hughes.

Per a conversation he had with the folks at Engadget, Hughes states that “While he agreed that the app doesn't technically break the rules, he said that it does encroach upon the boundaries of what they can and cannot allow on their store.”

So what happens next? It's off to Cydia and the jailbreak community. Hughes has revealed that the app is now available in the BigBoss repository at Cydia for $9.99.

Note: The iPhone app currently works only on the Mac though the developer has mentioned that he plans to release a Windows version of the application “in the next few months”. Support for iPad is also likely to be made available via a free update soon.

Check out the video below of the app in action.
