The Bamboo Bike Studio was founded to harness the possibility and promise of self-propulsion, reaching out from New York City to developing nations around the world, beginning with Ghana and Kenya in Africa.
That  is the core focus of the Brooklyn-based Bamboo Bike Studio.
Our mission is twofold: provide every cyclist the experience of building his or her dream bike from scratch, while advancing sustainable entrepreneurship and development through financing bamboo bike factories in Africa and South America.
Check the video below:
There are primarily two bike styles:
- Local puts your body in a comfortable, upright and relaxed position, perfect for mellow rides through the park, or down to the local farmers market for groceries.
- Express is our more efficient and athletic design, developed for commuters and urban cyclists, or people looking to make longer rides.
The tuition pricing for you to actually learn how to build your bike is as follows:
- Full Bike Weekend Workshop Tuition is now $932, down from $1250.
- Frame-only Weekend Workshops Tuition is now $632, down from $799.
This looks like such a cool and worthy venture. Their website has driving directions, points of interest and hotel recommendations fro the traveler coming to New York to go through the bike build workshop.
I'd love to hear from anyone that has actually built a bike from the Bamboo Bike Studio
