Say hello to the Dyson AM01 table fan
The AM01 comes in both 10 and 12-inch sizes and your choice of Iron/Blue or Silver/Iron colors (I personally like this Iron/Blue look).
The fan uses what Dyson is calling Air Multiplierâ„¢ technology to generate smooth, uninterrupted airflow with no unpleasant buffeting.
I don't fully understand all the fancy technology behind it, but it sounds very cool. They've got a video on their website that explains the ins and outs here.
I'm thinking, at $299, that's not too bad a price for this level of “coolness” – pun intended.

I could see some amazing toys from this “blade-less” fan. How about a remote control flying saucer or even helicopter ?

A bit pricey for what you get.
One more thing, besides being over priced its not too quiet, its a bit unsteady and there is no remote control or timer. Since the actual fan and blades are built into the plastic base and not in the upper housing, it is still no different than an actual fan. Only louder because the smaller fan has to work harder and makes noise being enclosed in the pastic base.Lastly, the air holes and vents can easily get clogged with dust and pet hair.
