It rarely works out that way and most musicians end up touring underfunded and under-promoted.

You probably think about paparazzi and private airplanes, but instead its leftover tacos and a flat soda. Instead of fine dining with the model of the moment you are combing the clearance rack at an all night grocery.

About two days in you are completely exhausted. Traveling from town to town and never having a comfortable bed to sleep in will do that to a person. You are busy and working hard even when you aren’t playing.

Even if you love the people you are touring with, its hard to be around the same people without any break and without any privacy. There are many bands who break up with people they can no longer stand even though they are making millions of dollars.

It becomes worth everything a musician goes through just to play the show. Being in front of a crowd who are digging your music is a high you can’t get anywhere else. The energy and thrill of playing live is what makes it all worth it.

Following their dreams and sharing their gifts is what keeps many talented musicians on the road. Many talented people will never make money at being on the road or being in a band but for love of their music they will endure pretty much anything.
