Beat the price increases on high definition LCD and Plasma TVs
Have you been putting off purchasing a new electronic item such as a Blu Ray player, a HD LCD television or a high definition Plasma television because you are waiting until the price comes down a little more? This is understandable given that the retail price of electronic goods seem to get cheaper and cheaper every year. Further to this numerous news reports talk of considerable price reductions on the high street that only seem to justify holding off for longer.
Prices keep getting cheaper?
When LCD TVs and Plasma televisions were first launched they cost about $10000.00. Each year they got cheaper and cheaper and right now you can buy them for a fraction of the price when launched, with a lot higher specification and better picture quality. Unfortunately this trend of constantly falling prices is just about to change.
Buy now or pay more later.
Over the last 12 months the value of the pound against the Dollar, Euro and Yen has weakened by about 30%. So what has this got to do with the price of consumer electronics? Well because a lot of electronic products are produced in China and Eastern Europe the cost of importing them has risen as a result of the weakness of the pound. Even electronic products produced in the UK will be affected by this since they use components produced outside of the UK.
Many major brand manufacturers havent passed these price increases on and have absorbed them. Nevertheless this is about to change with Sony first announcing price rises of upto about 32% closely followed by Yamaha, Denon, Panasonic and be expecting more to follow. These price increases will start to take effect from January 2009 on many existing models and imminent new models. Therefore the continuous downward trend is just about to change. Furthermore if the pound weakens any further then the prices will have to rise even more.
If you are looking to buy the latest HD LCD TV, HD Plasma TV or Blu-Ray Player now may be a better time than ever or else you will most likely not see prices at the current level for some time to come. So beat the price increases, purchase now otherwise dont say that you werent warned.
